  2. wearing sunglass indoors. Appropriate ever? appropriate depending on the status of the individual? appropriate in certain settings? increase or decrease swagger?

For Lady followers, when guys wear sunglasses indoors, i.e. in a club, does it make him more attractive? does brand matter?

  3. You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

    Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
    Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
    With the certainty of tides,
    Just like hopes springing high,
    Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
    Bowed head and lowered eyes?
    Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
    Weakened by my soulful cries.

    Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

    Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
    I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
    I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
    I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
    I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
    I rise
    I rise
    I rise

  5. I'm glad that Blogmaster has listened to the masses and has made an attempt to have an open board. This isn't as good as an open post on the full blog page, but it will have to do for now. Has anyone heard anything new about tort reform or the Atlas Shrugged movie?

  6. i heard that atlas shrugged was produced by the folks from enron and halliburton. can anyone speak to that?

  7. @ William: The fact of the matter is that if you are trying to be famous, it works. If you're an average guy trying to be cool there are easier, and better ways of doing it (fedora is number one).

@ FW/1: A powerful piece that while relavant today, is also a commentary on alot of other groups of people that came to our country on their own terms. Brings to mind the way the Irish immigrants were cast to only lick our boots, and clean our stables.

    @ DR/1: Yes.

    @ DR/2: Yes!

@ DR/3: It is a red herring. It will finally get the marxists to see the light!

@ FW/2: The movie is about how Ken Lay turned into Cheney and birther Paul Ryan.

  8. What a frightening thought!!!! Lay, Cheney, and Ryan-->talk about the "Axis of Evil"

  9. Also, can people post their favorite types of alcohol and the kind of spots they like to go with their friends. I'm curious.

  10. I am so excited to see that this wonderful blog finally had an open thread Friday! I have been following your philosophic wandering for several months, and I hope that together we can all add to the Great Conversation!

In response to Mr. Wildhammer and Mr. Renob, I feel that we must take a movie and view it in its own light and not worry about what corrupt, conservative machine made it.

  11. @Dmitry WOW!!!! Welcome to the blog!!! That insightful, meaningful, deep, and personal post was quite an opening salvo in the great philosophical debate known as "Things." Let me be the first to welcome you and we hope to see more great things from you!

You are right. We must keep an open mind about these things. Just makes it hard when Faux..i mean Fox News is cramming their agenda into our skulls 24-7!! damn you rupert murdoch!!!

  14. Thank you Mr. Renob! I already feel so welcome!

@ Mr. Me: I have only noticed this to take place in the fall in New Hampshire, but then again, I haven't traveled as much as I would have liked.

  15. @Dmitry: What are your thoughts on the Bronx? Is it true that if it wasn't for the bronx...

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ Mr. Me: I have a plethora of thoughts on the Bronx! But the most true thing that I can say about the Bronx would have to be that if it wasn't for the Bronx I wouldn't be the man I am today!

@ Mr. Renob: If it's not a Bordeaux from the mid 70's, I'm not drinking it. And my favorite spot to spend time with friends would have to be a Tuscan villa. I know what you're thinking! French Bordeaux in a Tuscan villa!? Crazy, but that's me. A walking paradox.
