The duchess

A great film yall. What it does is semi-empowers women, but at the same time makes it clear that men are in charge of what women can and can't do. Does her husband get with most of London? Yes. Does he hook up with the duchess' bff? Yes. Does he get the best friend to live with them even though shes hooking up with the Duke and everyone knows it? Yes. Does the duchess raise his illegitimate child? Yes.

But then the duchess reconnects with a dude from her past and they fall in love and do the nasty but then the Duke finds out and absolutely regulates. Says he will surely ruin her lovers' life etc. if they don't cut it out. (Forgot to mention - does the bff of the duchess that is getting it on with the duke on the reg eat dinner with them every night at the same table? Yes.) The duke really puts his foot down and you have to respect him for that.

Pretty sick movie, pretty deep and shit. Love, lust and the whole nine.

Pimping out your daughter to a 40 year old man? Yes.

I think we can see what the liberal propaganda machine has done to our country...

  1. I think I can safely say I speak for all the readers of this blog that we would love some kind of countdown/list of your favorite foreign/love/indie films? How about it?

My cinemetography selection has been stale lately and it needs a boost. Also, including comments and reviews from a (in)famous cinemetographer would be nice. (i.e. Chase "I Run NYC and LA" Malloy)

  2. Great idea Dinky! Maybe the sites commenters can start making their own countdown in the comments section?!

    I'll start....

    1) I absolutely love Chocolat with Dame Judi Dench - or for those who don't speak French, Chocolate.
    2) La Vie en Rose - don't think I have to explain this one ;)
